Food experience from the silence of water and earth

It is quiet on the shore, mysterious mist dancing on top of the water. Air so fresh that it wakes up even the earliest wonderers. On the shore of Lake Päijänne, a fisherman starts up his boat and goes to fish. Magical Lake Päijänne, where the fisherman’s boat sails in the morning mists, is the deepest lake of Finland. To the fisherman it is a friend known for years. Here the water god Ahti bestows him with fresh wild fish, which he bring to Nukula to be eaten straight away.

The lingering mist also caresses earth, waking up all kinds of plants and trees to the new morning. The earth has imbued itself with Nordic power. Here the earth is a breathing living being, adapting to the four seasons. It has retained the summers heat, enjoyed the autumn colours, rested under the snow ad finally awoken again to the sounds of little creeks in the spring. Hand of caring humans collect vegetables, root vegetables and berries to be served, when the time is right. All the ingredients have absorbed all the effects of the four seasons.

The earth, water and the forest give some of their own. The gifts they give are always received with joy and gratitude. In return they gladly receive the care and respect we humas give them. This can be experienced by every guest of ours. Every meal is cooked with the same piety. The journey from ingredient to a meal is a short one.

From the silence and wild Nordic nature are the food experiences of Nukula made of. They are made of fish and vegetables. Its is unrefined, clean local food, straight from water and from earth. It is food prepared from start to finish with utmost respect and love to be enjoyed by you at the peace of Nukula.

Let´s go to eat out

In Finland this means, that meals are enjoyed in restaurants or cafes. In Nukula that really means to prepare the meals and eat it under the open sky. Regardless of summer or winter meals are enjoyed mainly at the open fire. Soups, crepes, barbecues, smoked food, … and on top of everything coffee prepared on the flames. In the Old Cottage and in Paamiska meals are served inside. However by all means no one would be offended if you slip away to enjoy your meal outside.
